I suck at taking photos at night. A recent visit to Atlantic City, presented me with an opportunity to click some fluorescent lights. I would like to get some feedback for these snaps and some suggestions for the future. I do use a tripod. I have a Canon Rebel XT with a IS/USM 17-85mm lens.

I also suck at taking night photos, but I've found that taking photos with a tripod using longer exposures gives more interesting results. So instead of just using the automatic settings, set your shutter speed to something longer. Try experimenting with different apertures and shutter speeds, f22 for 20 seconds, for instance.
hope that helps a little, and good luck with your night photography!
