Today I learned something new. When you take a picture of a jumping spider, it will look up from its meal, stare right back at you, and smile. I almost didn't take this shot. I was originally planning on getting a moonrise over downtown Sacramento (see here), but I made a grave miscalculation and the moon rose much further south than I anticipated. After taking a few less than decent shots I decided to pack up and leave. As I was driving away I looked back one more time. The moon was right next to an old dead tree. After a brief period of contemplation, I stopped the car, got out and started shooting again.
